At MEXT, our mission is to revolutionize computing efficiency through AI-powered predictive memory technology. This vision is brought to life by a team of exceptional technical talents, each contributing unique expertise to advance AI below the application layer. 

Pushing the Industry Forward

The team includes industry-veteran innovators who have directly worked on foundational aspects of how computing works today. These team members have personally contributed to major advances including CPU virtualization, Flash integration in data centers, LAN on motherboards, 64-bit x86 processing, and even the creation of the Internet itself. Collectively, we hold over 200 patents—and counting!

Gary Smerdon - CEO and Founder

Gary Smerdon leads MEXT with a rich background in executive roles, including CEO at TidalScale and leadership positions at Fusion-io, LSI, AMD, and Marvell. He has a proven track record of identifying market needs and predicting technological trends to develop unique solutions. This insight has led to transformational advancements in networking, storage, and computing technologies. His successes include numerous $0 to $100M businesses as well leading a billion dollar exit.

David Reed - CTO and Founder

As Chief Technology Officer, David Reed brings extensive experience from roles such as Chief Scientist at TidalScale and Lotus, SVP at SAP, and Fellow at HP. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the Internet. David’s deep technical knowledge extends from the Linux kernel, to applications, to system architecture and hardware. He is co-author of the seminal paper “End-to-End Arguments in System Design.”

Bobby Minnear - VP Engineering and Founder

Leading the engineering team, Bobby Minnear has previously served as VP of Engineering at TidalScale and held various engineering leadership roles. He has primarily worked for early-stage startups with a focus on IP networking, configuration, and management platforms and IaaS. Bobby’s experience ensures the robust development of MEXT's core software.

Carl Waldspurger - Chief Scientist

Carl Waldspurger serves as Chief Scientist. His experience includes more than a decade at VMware, where he led the design and implementation of core resource management and virtualization technologies. An inventor with more than a hundred patents and numerous impactful research publications, Carl's expertise is instrumental in advancing MEXT's memory virtualization and AI capabilities.

Adam Bane - VP of Product

Adam Bane oversees product strategy, bringing over 25 years of experience leading product organizations at numerous early-stage and established companies including Cleversafe, TidalScale, MacStadium, and IBM Cloud. He has an extensive background in developing and launching infrastructure software offerings in the areas of networking, storage, and virtualization. His insights drive the alignment of MEXT's offerings with market needs.

Fred Weber - Advisor

Fred Weber was a longtime leader at AMD, serving as CTO and CVP. He led the design of the industry’s first x86-compatible 64-bit processors—a critical industry milestone. He has also served on the board or been an advisor for companies like Lattice Semiconductor and Samsung Electronics, and now MEXT.

John Williams - Advisor

​John Williams is a seasoned product management executive with extensive experience in cloud services, data center infrastructure, and semiconductors. His career includes significant roles at leading technology companies—including Google Cloud, Microsoft, AMD, Marvell, and Cray. 

Steve Yatko - Advisor

Steve Yatko holds over 30 years of experience in enterprise IT’s most mission-critical environments while leading his consulting firm Oktay Technology, advising the world’s top financial firms. Previously, he drove design and development for over 14 years at Credit Suisse as CTO and MD & Global Head of IT, R&D and Innovation. 

Toby Bloom - Advisor

Toby Bloom is an MIT-trained bioinformatics leader who has focused her career on designing and building high-throughput, scalable platforms to enable leading-edge computational biology and translational medicine at scale. She has held various leadership roles at organizations like the Broad Institute, New York Genome Center, and eGenesis.
